HIV survival outside the body

Maybe I'm dumb or a lil slow but im still confused about hiv survival outside the body and its ability to infect.Does it make a difference in the amount of blood or semen outside the body to determine the time of hiv to die?My doctor says the maximum for any amount of infected fluids outside the body to lose its ability to infect is 7 hours.Do you agree?Someone please set the record srtaight here please.Jackie you look like you know alot what do you think.

You're not dumb or slow. No one really knows how long it takes. They just know that once HIV leaves the body, it weakens and dies quickly. I would think that the amount of infected fluid would be relevant to the time it takes to die however.
