Haven't heard anything about these but I do know that health departments do not account ANY home tests as being accurate. In fact, the United States is the only one that even allows the home access thing... which I assume is where you get a blood sample and mail it off to get the actual test done and then results are mailed back... So far, all I know is that the FDA has not approved of any home HIV tests so go to your doctor and get a traditional ELISA or something. 40 bucks or something right? and sometimes even free depending where you live. If you want a super fast test, there are those rapid tests that can be give results in 15-30min but those aren't offered everywhere and they're more $$.

please email me at amoose007@hotmail.com. I am very curious as to where you can get these tests. I have heard about them a couple of times from some friends in france. The website they gave me to go to to purchase them was www.hivdent.com. When I tried to access the site it didn't exist. From what I hear they are just as accurate as the fast tests you get at the health dept where you get the results the same day. I personally think they should manufacture and push home tests. It would not be such a big deal to get someone to test if you had it right there. i think they (the government) is afraid if they were to market and approve a test of this nature in the US they would not be able to keep up with the amount of people who are testing positive. I ca also see from another aspect they might be afraid people might do stupid things to them selves upon recieving positive results with no one to talk to, to council you in that case. If you have one of these tests please let me know how I can also find them... Thank you very much "A"

The HOME ACCESS EXPRESS is approved by the FDA. However it is so far the ONLY approved home test.

blah too lazy to log in... but anyways yes thats what i said, the access test is available but its not really an at home test. you mail your samples in to the health dept. and they mail you back results. its not like a home pregnancy test that you buy at the drug store where blue or something means positive and you can find out right then and there. this is at least what i have been told.
BESIDES ALL THAT THOUGH, there's nothing scary abuot going to a clinic and getting the test anyway. they are very reassuring and positive. if youre afraid about people finding out or something, there are anonymous clinics im sure you all know. i suppose i can understand though, if you live in a small town where these aren't readily available.

I absolutely agree. Why would anyone want to test at home anyway. As long as there is anonymous testing available at a clinic nearby, I personally think this is the way to go. The pre-test counselling provided there is tremendously beneficial. And so is the post-test counselling, no matter what your results turn out to be!
