What is the life expectancy of someone nowdays if the get infected? If they have great health insurance I'm guessing they live longer, but what about the average person and how much do the drugs cost a typical person?

My doctor, and I suspect many doctors, says life expectancy may be "nearly normal" for someone who is absolutely religious about following their treatment plan if and when that is necessary.
Prescription costs would vary depending on which medications are prescribed. Mine would be about $12000 per year without insurance. Luckily it is far less than that after the insurance payment. If you don't have medical insurance, there are other programs available to help -- contacting a service agency near you would probably be the best way to get information on those.
