i was tested at a state run std center (did not know where else to go)and i was wondering if their is any chance a needle could be used twice? i know i am a paranoid but can any of you share what safety procedures are taken? would it be possible for them to use a needle twice?

You probably have a MUCH better chance of lightning striking you out of the sky than someone using a needle twice AND it infecting you with HIV. Move on...

I agree that your chances of infection this way are almost nil. For one, normally, needles are thrown away immediately after use. It's basically a rule that people who draw your blood follow. From what I've noticed, they follow it pretty well too!
Also, what I've noticed (at least in the clinic that I went to) is that needles have a seal on them. It's basically like a little sticker that is ripped apart when the needle is opened. If a needle was somehow misplaced and went back into the "new needle" bin, the person drawing your blood should notice that the seal is broken, and then they should discard the needle.
If you want to talk about this any more, write me at BDGtoronto@hotmail.com. The reason I'm giving you my email address is because I'm actually kinda sharing the same concern as you. It's not bugging me that much, but it's there in the back of my mind. Maybe we can talk about it.
