Would be grateful for any responses:
1. My ARS symptoms came on with my first night sweat on the evening of day 4 as well as some excessive sweating on day 3. Had a low grade fever (99.5) by morning of day 5. Does this seem typical? 2. My ARS symptoms include fairly severe night sweats and mild fever (99-99.8). Is this typical? Both the fever and night sweats have been intermittent but actually seem to be getting worse at 3 weeks post my first symptom. 3. The internet tells me that splenomegaly is a symptom of ARS and my whole left rib cage is very tender. That said, I can't palpate my spleen although I've never had any training in doing so. 4. I had a fairly faint (10-15 spots) of flat or slight raised pink/red rash on my upper chest and lower neck for the first 2 weeks of my ARS symptoms. It's now gone. 5. Only glands I can feel swollen are the two just under your jaw and some in my lower lip. Anybody seen lip gland swelling in ARS???? Mine is on one side and quite severe. No mouth lesions/ulcers that i can find at all. My mouth looks quite healthy except for the white coating on my tounge which I've had for years. The neck glands are markedly swollen from normal although I had been palpating them so mercilessly that I'm praying that I just irritated them in some way - they are large but painless. 6. Headaches have been very minor and only on a few occassions. 7. No sub-orbital pain. No real muscle aches. In fact, I have been vigorously exercising through this process with good stamina. However, I'm sweating much more than normal. I mean, sweating profusely in situtations where others are dry. 8. I have had a minor sore throat and "tight swallowing". However, my anxiety has been almost crippling (average of 2 hours of sleep a night for 3 weeks) and this I think has caused bigtime dry mouth which maybe is causing the throat. The throat has been kind of off/on and mild. 9. I've lost 10 pounds and have completely lost my appetite.
Bottom line to me is that this doesn't look good at all but it seems unusual the way the symptoms have actually progressed in the third week? Has anybody heard of that? Temp was 99.2 this morning and sweated each of the last 3 nights (changed shirt on two of them).
I'm petrified. Was ELISA negative at 3 weeks from last exposure (or just over two weeks from onset of my ARS symptoms). Would I seroconvert by 2 weeks post ARS onset?? Does severity or timing of ARS impact seroconversion at all??
Please help me with your thoughts. I'm really frightened. Exposure was receiving oral sex with a condom which I know is very low risk BUT, I've seen my GP and my CBC is totally normal and I do not seem to have any bacterial infections at all. It must be viral and my internet research (almost constant for 2 weeks) can't disclose anything viral which would cause the length or duration of these symptoms. I had mono years ago and there's no WBC abnormality. CMV doesn't seem to cause these symptoms? Are there other viruses which might do this and my research has not disclosed them? My GP said lymphoma would likely have shown up on the x-ray. I've got an abdominal CT scan coming which I'm sure will pick up the swollen spleen (the GP could not feel it). Sorry for the detail but this has become an obsession for me which I'm sure is quite obvious to you all.

Maybe you have a problem with your spleen. Certainly people have had problems long before HIV was around so it really couldn't be considered indicitive of HIV infection.
Here's a little about what can go wrong with the spleen from Encarta.
Many diseases affect the spleen. In splenomegaly, the spleen enlarges. This condition is usually an indication of bacterial, parasitic, and viral infections, such as infectious mononucleosis, tuberculosis, malaria, rheumatoid arthritis, and histoplasmosis. Splenomegaly may also be caused by cirrhosis of the liver. In hypersplenism, a malfunctioning or hyperactive spleen may so increase its normal rate of destroying red blood cells as to cause a variety of hemolytic anemias. Hemorrhage of an enlarged spleen may magnify anemia and also cause an iron deficiency. Small splenic abscesses may run a benign course without detection. Large splenic abscesses, however, may rupture into the bowel cavity to cause peritonitis (inflammation of the abdominal wall lining), and the infection may invade the bloodstream and be carried to the liver, where it may form additional abscesses. Splenic cysts are rare, and the spleen is seldom the site of a carcinoma, or cancer.
A hyperactive spleen may sometimes be treated with radiation or corticosteroids (steroids that are extracted from the adrenal cortex). Abscesses are treated with broad-spectrum antibiotics or surgical drainage. Surgical removal of the spleen is required if the spleen or the splenic artery ruptures.
I'm sure all those things cause symptoms of one type or another. You may well find your symptoms match something here.
Truthfully I just don't see it. You had no risk. You've had no ARS symptoms non-specific as they are. ARS timing was wrong. Length of symptoms is too long. Your rash is not the same, your 'fever' isn't really considered a fever, much less the type of fever you would experience during ARS. Headaches? Who doesn't have headaches. Pain relievers for headaches is a million dollar business. Night sweats in relation to HIV are the type where you don't just change your shirt, you change the sheets too. Wring them out and hang them to dry. BTW did you know a major symptom of stress is sweating. #8 and #9 sound like stress also.
You are setting yourself up for a long recovery over this. The type of prolong stress you are putting yourself under is very damaging to the body and it doesn't go away over night.
You need to get ahold of yourself and realize that HIV is not transmitted when you use a condom. And in your case, HIV has never been transmitted from a blow job even without a condom.

Could all of this just be "anxiety"? You are not your thoughts and learning to not make anxiety or ars your indenitiy might be helpfull. Stop scaring yourself with fearfull thoughts about diseases... be in the moment as much as possible. You are much stronger than you think you are. You are not a victim. Hope this helps it works for me! Love you!
