Sore Throat ?

A site alluded to the fact that nasal congestion accompanying a mild sore throat/fever for 1-2 days is probably not HIV ARS related, that in hiv the sore throat would not have any conjestion sypmtoms with it, or words to that effect. Is this accurate?

your sore throat sounds like the flu.. no nasal problems w/ acute viral syndrome

Thanks. I had an exposure early March w/low fever, mild sore throat, runny nose, about 10 days later which lasted 1-2 days. Mid may the doctor thought I had a swollen poserior cervical node but test showed it was "abnormal swelling of soft tissue",Whatever that is. Last week had real bad bout w/dizziness which lasted 30 minutes when I woke up. Those are the only symptoms I can hang my hat on. Dr agreed to do a test, although he stated what I had/have "doesn't fit". Get results this week.

Just to throw in some more support, I too have read that ARS does not present itself with respiratory problems. In other words, it's not associated with runny nose, coughing, sneezing, etc. So, what you suffered doesn't sound like ARS to me.

What does your doctor think fits with hiv infection or the ars?
