Hi All, Sorry I typed the wrong time period in the last message. I am under a lot of stress. Ok, I had a Urine test at 8 weeks and tested negative. Does the 95% accurate rule at 25 days still exist with Urine tests?
I have another question also, what kind of rash appears with ARS? Does it appear on the face? and in addition does anyone know if pimples on the glans a sign of Acute HIV Infection? I am really worried! Also, I did have pain under my armpits, but I could feel any lymphnodes... is it possible to have painful lmpyhs but not able to feel them under your armpits?
Thanks, I am really worried

Not sure about the urine test. What is your story anyway. The best ay to find out about pos or neg that I have learned is get an elisa test after 90 days and it should be quite accurate. I have had pain it seems in every lymphnode in my body and also had a couple of small bumps on a few glands, not all and I am talkin maybe 3 bumps total, ie 1 neck 1 in elbow region and 1 close to armpit area. I have no idea what the heck those mean but I tested Home access at 81 days NEG and 97 days Neg. Sostress can attribute to alot and your probs could be something else but if you test out to 90 days then maybe you will have to look for another answer, HIV is not the only thing that can cause the symptoms so relax and get tested and go see a doc about your symptoms if they persist. Dear First Anon,
I'm interested to know where you got the information about 95% accuracy after 28 days with antibody tests? I thought that applied to the 3 mth mark.

Hi, I am the First Anony. I read the 95% of another message here on the community forum. Does anyone want to confirm this? Does anyone know how accurate a Urine Elisa test is compared to lets say a Saliva or blood Elisa test? and can answer my question about my ARS symptoms from my first message? Thanks

Urine Tests: It doesn't look as if they are quite as good as blood tests. In the case of a positive result from a urine test a blood test is required to confirm anyway. In a study done with 11,344 people, blood tests were correct 99.15% while urine tests were correct 98.73% of the time. Also out of 100 people testing the urine test gives 2-3 false positives.
25 days is the average time it takes people to seroconvert. A test at 25 days is not 95% accurate unless it's a PCR. I think I've read that if a person tests negative by PCR at 28 days or after, then the chances are excellent that they will also test negative at 3 months with the ELISA. There was a great deal of discussion on this topic about 8 months - year ago on the Understanding Your Labs Q&A.
The rash that can appear during ARS covers the trunk of the body and typically looks kinda like a sunburn. Pimples on the glans are just that, pimples. Pores can get blocked in places other than on the face. I don't know if it's possible to have painful armpits and not have swollen nodes. If only the nodes in your armpits are bothering you then don't count that up as a symptom. HIV causes generalized swelling of all the nodes.
