OK-
It is MUCH harder for a women to give it to a man, for the obvious reasons-HIV has to be exposed to a mucous membrance and the only one on the penis is the opening of the Urethra. It is much easier the other way as the vagina is a BIG membrane.
Some other facts:
There needs to be a number of things going on for infection. Is there another STD present at the time?
Vaginal fluid is not as infectuous typically as blood. Viral load needs to be very high. Semen is much more of a loaded gun than vaginal fluid.
The virus needs access to your bloodstream. Thats it.
The most widely respected study was the one by Nancy Padian which said that this virus is 8 x MORE effecient M to F than the othr way. She estimated in REAL observed studies a 1 in 9000 chance.
Unless you have had anal sex, are a IVDU or a combo, the chance of you acquring HIV through ONLY vaginal intercourse as the male is VERY VERY low. Using a latex condom it is is about ZERO.
Hope this helps.
