How long does HIV live outside the body?

There is no definite time frame because it has a lot to do with the environment that HIV is placed in. But from what I've read, it can typically survive for only several minutes. I think the reasoning behind this is that HIV can survive in infected bodily fluids until the fluid dries. After that, it's dead. Most bodily fluids will dry up within several minutes. The exception would probably be very large amounts of fluid, such as a large blood spill or something.

In my opinion blood will get dry first than semen, precum or vaginal fluid. But anyway, I dont remember where I read it but even tough the semen is wet because it contact the air the virus get weaker till it dies.

I heard that the virus is fragile and only survives in ideal conditions.. air will eventually distroy the virus, so i would suppose that HIV doesn't live very long outside the body..

But then again the time it takes a person to get in contact with the virus isnt minutes but seconds. But I think this is not the case because for most risk the virus didnt even get out of the body and have contact with air, anal sex, vaginal sex, oral sex, iv drug use, blood transfusion. Dont you think?
