I have a few questions I havent seen discussed on here:
1) I wonder if any of you think Magic Johnson got this disease in some other fashion besides vaginal sex? It's so hard for a guy to get it that way, but not impossible. Also, he seems remarkably fit for someone who has been positive for at least 9 years. Why do you think this is so?
2)What do you guys think is riskier - Unprotected vaginal sex as the insertive male partner w/ a pos woman, or giving oral sex unprotected to a pos male? The NE Journal of Med. rates the first act, as a onetime exposure, as about a 1 in 10,000 chance, and that's including factors such as other STD's, etc.

Just read your post.
I have heard from HIV counselors that a one time heterosexual contact is more like a 1-300 chance. Now these are counselors, not doctors. I had one of these encounters and I'm sweating bullets because I've experienced some of the symptoms and I'm incredibly stressed out, conviced one stupid night has done me in. The other STD's in my situation were negative thank god. Now I have to wait for an HIV test. I dont know of anyone heterosexual, non IV drug using male who contracted HIV through vaginal intercourse. The only one I could think of was Tommy Morrison the boxer, but I believe he did steroids at one point in his life. There were rumors about Magic but go figure, his wife and two kids are negative. Paul Michael Glasers' wife was positive in '83 and he was still negative after conceiving two children. Say a prayer that the Lord gives me and anyone else in this mess a second chance
Regards

I'm a heterosexual male, non-IV drug user, who had a one time vaginal sexual experience. So, I guess, I'm at low risk, but still "at risk". If you are in the same situation, I would still get tested, I did and was negative, but remember, "it could happen to anyone".

Absolutely. With a one time encounter you are most probably not infected. But the virus is definitely transmitted from female to male. There are plenty of heterosexual males out there that got HIV from sex. So it's good to get tested to be sure you are not infected.
