What is an NAT test for HIV? I heard that it is able to detect HIV a lot earlier than any other test. If that is true, why aren't they using it to test for HIV?

not sure what NAT is... PCR DNA AND PCR RNA are the two most common test other than ELISA- ELSIA MUST BE DONE AT 3 MONTHS OR AFTER TO GET A FINAL ANSWER ON YOUR STATUS- no matter what testing you have done before that point
RNA AND DNA test can be done after 28 days - this will give you the results you will almost definitly see at 3 months - but remember a 3 month ELISA test after three months is the bottom line.
DNA test for the virus - it cost around 300 but if you can wait 3 months and just have the ELISA thats what I would recommend
i had a DNA and my Doc said it was a waste of money but it did help me come to terms with my negative Elisa results
GOOD LUCK I'M sure your negative!!!!

If you want more information on it, go to the experts sections and do a search on NAT.
