I received a splash of infected blood on my arm while giving first aid to a friend of mine who is hiv+.My skin was intact in that point but I didn't wash it immediately couse I saw it later.I didn't ask for PEP.Am I at risk? Six months after the incident I developed:severe fatigue, acne breakout on face, gastritis, massive headaches, nausea. Am extremely worried and even attempted suicide.I just can't get tested ... I'm only 23 and have always been very supportive to people with the disease and have always practised safe sex. Now I'm feeling lost ... Any advice appreciated.

Gloria, Your risk for infection sounds pretty low to me. Getting blood on you is scary, I know, but if your skin was intact then you should be just fine. HIV doesn't live outside of the body for long, so chances are that any HIV in the blood splashed on you was dead within minutes. Since it's been 6 months already, why not get tested just to prove to yourself that you're alright? It's the only thing that will put your mind at ease for sure.
