hello, i am at my 3 month mark (12 weeks) after unprotected sex and was thinking about taking the rapid suds test so that i could find out my results right away instead of waiting 10 days but i read that these tests can have high false positive results but i also read that they are also highly accurate and sensitive eia tests as well - which is it? and what should i do? are these rapid tests (from a std clinic with a doctor) good? past posts on this board do not seem to like rapid testing but on the main page of the body (under testing), it seems good. i want to test once and not have no doubts about my results, so any input would be great. i need to know i will be taking the correct test. thank -you.

dont test with the rapid suds!!!!!!
i have posted in the past about having taken the rapid suds (fda approved) and regular hiv test - take the elisa and wait a few days.
i had a rapid at 6 months give 2 reactive readings and then had to wait about a week or so for a confirmatory western blott which was negative but .......... i flipped during those 10 days, and by the way - my 3 month test was negative so i thought i converted! but --- i didnt!!!!
go to your regular dr and get the standard test and wait - it is worth it. i'd never use a rapid again.

he person posting this ad is most likely a dissident and is like most dissidents posting things out of context and in a misleading way. What they are posting is legal information that is on the quick test package. And while it is factual that there is currently no "GOLD STANDARD TEST" they are trying to imply that the tests are not valid. The fact still remains that the OraSure and other tests that Abbot Laboratories produce do in fact show a presence of HIV in the blood. Also the other products that Abbott produces for treatment of HIV save lives.
You can find more information on Abbott Labs at http://abbott.com/index.cfm
