Something to think about - Something that also helped put my mind at ease.
I located a website that provided me with governmental statistics on the number of people infected with HIV/AIDS in my state - which eventually lead me to stats in my city and even county. (I'm sure this info exists not only for US but for other countries too).
By process of elimination (on the types of people with the disease in my state and ways of infection), my risk factor continued to go down and down.
For some reason, this helped put the scary numbers (worldwide, US-wide) and big picture into a more personal perspective. Somehow this information helped me calm down a little bit.
