Question if someone has hep C, will this effect a 1st gen Elisia test at 3 months?

It depends who you ask. Different experts give different answers. The odds are with you though. Talk to you doctor and test at 4 or 5 months if you are worried. 3 months is likely enough.

hi,

i also feared hiv/hcv coinfection (because my incidence was with a girl who admitted that she did street drugs a few years ago)

i think the whole confusion about HIV/HCV antibody delay started with one of those articles:

clearly, this article leaves much more question open than it answers...

however, while experts are not sure about the consequences of SIMULTANEOUS hcv/hiv coninfection, many experts say the PRE-existing hcv infection does not lead to the delayed antibody production. however, the jury is still out for both scenarios.

No it will not effect the 1st generation Elisa. If you are infected with the HIV virus you will show antibodies by 3mos even with the co-infection.
