Negative At 12 Weeks
      #41899 - 10/15/02 02:49 PM

I just received a neg ELISA result at 12 weeks. My exposure was male to male oral with both giving and receiving. When I performed the oral there was no ejacultion. I don't remember if there was any pre-cum. I am married and have managed to avoid sex with my wife since the exposure. Can I now be confident that I am not infected with HIV and resume sexual intercoures with my wife?

The CDC says that 12 weeks is conclusive. Since giving oral is low risk and receiving oral in no risk, there really is no reason to second guess the CDC on this issue.

You're right it would be 13 weeks if a month was based on 4.33 weeks such as you would use for figuring out a monthly salary. However for testing purposes 4 weeks is a month. That's why you see people talking about testing at 12 weeks.

If it makes you feel more secure wait an extra week.
