Does anyone know whether taking Famvir (an antiviral) for a rash (herpes like burning sensation) for 5 days (this was 2 weeks after exposure) would delay seroconversion? Could it delay it beyond 3 months? Is there any real need to test at 6 months for a low risk event (receiving oral sex)?

i have gential herpes and i take valtrex. valtrex, famvir and the other antiviral drug does not and will not change the outcome of your hiv test. it will not delay or speed up anything that deals with hiv or hiv antibody testing. i asked this when i got tested and also this question was posed on dr kulls question section. antivirals for herpes 1 or 2 or both has no effect on the out come of any hiv test. hiv antibodies will or wont show if you have hiv - the meds for herpes wont change or effect that. chichi
