just read this, liked it so thought i'd share:
"People sometimes tend to sit in awe of all the little PWAs (persons living with AIDS), how their lives have been made so meaningful — I'm being sarcastic here — how it seems like HIV was the best darn thing that's ever happened to them. Because of the HIV, the PWAs were able to pull their lives together, they've gotten off drugs, they've become the most wonderful parents in the world, they've gone back to school, they're going to write a book — and I want to say, 'You know, if a terminal diagnosis is all it takes for you to get your life in order, then I have a gift I want to give to you — the gift of a terminal diagnosis. All of us have a terminal condition, and it's called life.' None of us has a guarantee about how long we're here. We each have the opportunity to live each moment as if it were our last. And how much living can you do in that time? An awful lot. So don't just sit back and wait for some letter of doom to arrive in the mail — I'll give it to you right now: We're all going to die, and we don't know when."
