END OF THE 3 MONTH DEBATE...here's why
      #39239 - 09/02/02 07:32 PM

Please go through all these links. All of these point
towards the fact that a 3 month/12 week antibody test
is conclusive. And the authors are all very qualified, so
we can afford to believe them.

Hope this helps you. It helped me. I know the agony that a lot of you are going through.

May the FORCE be with you.

These are not good resources for me I like to cross referance my sources before making a firm decision. You should seek other sites besides the body.

Then try cross referencing with just about every organisation in the developed world who will tell you 3 months is conclusive. The only ones that don't are the ones that haven't bothered to update their literature

Whatever makes you comfortable, but need 6 month new
      #39287 - 09/03/02 03:28 PM

test- actually 2 after 6 months to rule out human/lab error. This subject has been posted to death. If you're happy with and 100% comfortable with one 3 month test, that's your opinion. Personally, if I was going to have unprotected sex with someone, I'd require 2 tests after 6 months have elapsed.

You sure that would be enough? Someone as AIDSAPHOBIC as you probably need to have 3 tests after 12 months.

i have spoken to the aids hotline as well as many other government experts on hiv testing...3 months is conclusive..or 14 weeks,...they told me that in ontario, they have not documented one case of someone taking 6 months to seroconvert. I have also spoken to many of the health units whom tell me 14 weeks is conclusive as well....the 6 month theory is for the older tests they had and that is why the cdc in atlanta states three months is considered conclusive unless you've had other exposures ex: a needle stick. The 6 month theory has been around for a long time and will be hard to get out of peoples heads. There has been only two peple in my research that took longer that 6 months to seroconvert...and that was occupational(doctors...etc..) >1 % may take up to 6 months but this is really rare.
