Are test results at 3 months conclusive or must I go back at 6 months? I heard that it's rare for secroversion to occur after 3 months, but I am still curious.

Results at 3 months are conclusive, you need to re-test at 6 only if you need to satisfy your own self that you are NOT infected. It is more of a psychological issue nowadays, coz medically it is not reqd as it is way past the window period of 2-12 weeks.

3 months is conclusive 6 months testing is suggested only if you had a DEFINITE high risk exposure with a person who IS HIV POSITIVE and your DOCTOR has determined that your clinical history is suggestive of HIV infection. That is the CDC stance.

because it is rare, but not unheard of, to take up to 6 months to test positive. This is especially true if you only had one test done. Negative results, just like positive ones, should be confirmed by more than one test. You should have the 2 or more tests done at different labs. Human error is not uncommon.

is more like it. Hiv can hide in the nodes or up to ten years.

HIV does not go undetected in your nodes for ten years. That is rediculous. It takes about 10 years for HIV to turn to AIDS. Look up your facts.

This person who posted after you is absolutely right. It doesn't go undetected for 10 years. It may stay in your nodes to rest for that long, but it's not UNDETECTABLE. The other posts were right. 3 months is conclusive. So go have your test and then let it go. Best of luck to you!!

As Per. Johns Hopkins 3mo is conclusive, The CDC says 6mo is conclusive. If the virus is in your system you will test posative for HIV in the 3 month window, some have read many old posts and feel that they must wait for the 6mo window. The choice is up to you, you can trust your 3mo test, or wait and test again at 6mo if you are so inclined. The choice is up to you, I would trust the tests.

That staying nodes bit is garbage. I have been going to sites like virusmyth and aidsmyth.com and getting a balance view on this subject and you should too!
