Have a question: about 7 to 7 1/2 weeks after a semi-risky encounter, I came down with a sore throat that lasted about 3 days, no other real symptoms or else too mild to notice. Could this be ars? Please let me know, am really worried.

Just like notanon said...sometimes a bump is just a bump. A sore throat at 7 - 7.5 weeks is not ARS it's just a sore throat.

thanks to jackie for the reference to my post. i will add that i had a sore throat which started at about the same timeframe after possible exposure. well, it lasted a solid 2 months....everyday! still hurts sometimes a little, but since testing neg at 12 weeks, i hardly pay much attention to it. i had a ENT say it was probably from reflux (caused by stress) and another doc say from allergies. if i had not been focusing on HIV as a cause it probably would have gone away a lot sooner. to your question, i read a case study on ARS and although a sore throat (pharyngitis) can be a common symptom it was not a good indicator of hiv and was usually due to other causes.......not hiv! that study was based on hospital admittances over a period of time comparing common ARS symptoms in persons that were determined to be poz vs. ones not infected. hope this helps!

The hiv test is garbage so your question is invalid! forget the test and never test again.

I love being positive it makes me feel like a sombody. I had no life untill I got positive. Now I'm "living with hiv". Life is GREAT! I wish everyone could be positive!
