Hi Doc,just wondering what you think about ongoing symptoms such as pain i right side just below rib cage ,swollen salivary gland,coated tounge,muscle aches that last for 6 or so months and testing neg for hiv at 6 months.Also had other symotoms which have since past.just would like your oppionion on testing pos after the window period.thank you very much. p.s. also having blurred vision from time to time

ok,lets start.
1.you tested neg at six months.you are neg.
2.ive only come across one person in our clinic in 8years,
that took longer than 6months to seroconvert.
that was because they had advanced aids,
and they had seroreverted.(no antibodys)
you should see your doctor,for a full checkup!.dr d ryan.

I agree...Something fishy going on here. You stated that only one case took longer then 6 months to seroconvert and that was because they had advanced aids and seroreverted! You have got to be very proud of this amazing case!!
How could you know he converted later then 6 months if it was due to seroreversion? or "advanced" aids?
according to your story not only did this person late convert(rare) but went on to advanced aids and seroreversion (remakably rarer) in an unheard of unbelievably short amount of time.
Or am I missing something?
oh, I also think a Doctor would know how to spell-antibodies

ok,i will try to explain,somtimes we see a patient with full-blown aids,sadly some patients leave it for so long
to seek medical advice that they are in a very late stage.
now when this happens their immune system is so low that any antibodies they have are gone.so if we tested them,
they test neg.now when we put them on combos(anti hiv- drugs)their immune system improves and BINGO!the antibodies-
are back.(seroconvert)....dr d ryan.
