Just hiv-1 elisa neg at 12 months. My question is...and please take this serious. Would it be better to have hiv-1 with all of the meds (and the optimism that goes along with the meds), or a less virulent but mostly untreatable virus such as hiv-2 or htlv?

good question. and it makes me wonder why they dont have drugs for it since they are both similar viruses. i guess just b/c not as many people are affected....

Actually, many of the drugs that are used for treatment of hiv-1 will also work for hiv-2. It is just the NNRTI class of drugs (efavirenz, delavirdine, nevirapine) that do not work for hiv-2
