To Johnny re: floaters

About 5 months after a possible exposure I began to see floaters in both eyes so can definitely relate to the pain and anguish you are feeling. I immediately began to think HIV was the cause. What else could possible cause this misery? And believe me Floaters are miserable! Floaters are the 1st thing you see when you wake-up and the last thing you see before you close your eyes to go to bed. They are everywhere you look! At the wall, at the computer screen, at the beautiful blue sky - i no longer have clear vision - it is constantly interrupted by floating objects clouding my vision...

Anyway back to the point at hand. I fell into the trap you are currently in. I definitely would have believed my 6 month test if it weren't for the floaters. However after seeing several well-qualified Opthamologists and even Retina Specialists I was told my eyes were healthy, floaters aren't cause by HIV, and they are a very common problem. (Floaters can be caused by CMV when CD4 counts are below 100, but keep in mind this is very advanced AIDS. Furthermore CMV would have been recognized by an Opthamoligist.)

Thus eventually I learned to trust my 7 negative ELISAs, 3 PCRs, p24, etc - if it was an HIV test I took it. I was a classic worried-well: believed I was a late-seroconvertor or I had a strain of the virus which was undectectable by current tests. I've been down the road your currently on and take it from me it is a dark path. Turn back and head towards the light because the road you're on will only lead you to depression, isolation, fear, misery, and waste of precious time in your life. Learn from your mistakes - forgive yourself - and vow to never put yourself in harms way again.
