hey Guys, I wanted your opinions on something. ALthough i have tested negative at 6 months I am still somewhat worried. Although i know very very unlikely i have HIV, nagging symptoms have me worried. Ive been getting a lot of wierd neurological symptoms. No swollen glands, no Fevers, no nightsweats. But what i am getting are as follows: Deep itching thats internal and is generalized, mild burning legs, feet, and right arms, random generalized muscle twitching that can be seen, and tingling pins and needles in soles of feet and toes, and right hand although this in particular has gone away. This is 6 + months after exposure. 3 weeks after exposure I had stiff neck, joint and muscle pains, and headaches which i think was due to stress. Why all these neurological symptoms? Evidence of a systematic infection such as HIV perhaps? I know you will all tell me based on my test that i am negative but my exposure was with someone that wasnt born in the US so im kinda worried about subtypes. Anyone know if Early HIV infectio would present itself like this? Would it be unlikely that one with HIV would get neurological symptoms alone without other symptoms? Would be immune system have to be pretty compromised to get peripheral neuropathy? Thanks for any feedback

The usual cause of peripheral neuropathy in hiv+ persons is some of the antiviral drugs.

How many tests have you had done already? All of them have been negative so what makes you think that you are infected? Please explain to me and I'm sure many others on this board how you figure that your tests have not been accurate because your exposure was in Asia? The Elisa picks up all subtypes and that has been stated many times. Yes, I understand that you have a lot of unexplained symptoms but how are they HIV related?? There are over a million diseases that a person can acquire but yet none of them worry you other than HIV which you have already ruled out. In case you didn't know the Elisa test is used worldwide including Asia and it does give accurate results. So since there are HIV infected people living in Asia and most of them were diagnosed by the Elisa what makes you think that the test is not sufficient enough? I'm sure that you are a very intelligent person and by now you know more of this disease than some doctors but enough is enough. You had a possible exposure, you got tested several times and your tests are negative. Time to rule out HIV and look for other reasons why you are having symptoms.
