      #33145 - 04/27/02 02:53 PM

is this an incorrect term? i have seem it on a few websites, maybe they were outdated. they describe the ARS symptoms as being during the time that you seroconvert. is this always the case?

Yes, that is always the case. The symptoms of ARS is caused because the body recognizes that it is being attacked by a virus. Just like it always does, it tries to fight it. That is what causes symptoms of illness whether a cold or cancer. Symptoms of any illness is the response to the body fighting off an invader.

From what i heard during ARS:
viral load spikes up (quantitative pcr 100.000+ or even millions), t-cell count diminishes (and allows for the occasional OI), and ELISA serology becomes positive in maximum 5-20 days from onset of symptoms. Hugs
