My Father in law learned about 9 months ago that a blood transfusion he recieved contained blood from an HIV positive donor. he goes in for his 3 month check ups for it and so far he is clean. now i know it is one of those that can lie dormant for a length of time. He is an older man and suffers from incontinence should i be worried if i have to clean it up or my kids should i be worried if he has a cut and he is holding them. he is also a diabetic and has needles in the house he is very careful with the dispencer

You don't have to worry, if he's had negative tests for the last 9 months he is not infected. The virus doesn't hide or lay dormant. It starts reproducing immediately and the body starts producing antibodies shortly after.

How sad that this man's family would refer to him as clean or dirty based on medical diagnosis of an illness.
