HEP B, C from Dr. Dieterich
      #31976 - 04/13/02 04:34 PM

----Q: Could you please tell me how long after possible exposure, one should be tested for Hepatitis A B & C. How long before they show up on the tests?

----A: Most of these viruses will make detectable antibodies in 6-12 weeks, but like HIV it can take as long as 6 months. If one wants to make a diagnosis of acute infection, then the PCR viral tests must be done before the antibodies turn positive. DTD
