Hi all; For those that have seen me post off and on over the years you all know the story. For those that are new I have ben + since 1989 and have ben healthy because of my regime and the time I am able to get out on my bike and excersize. After many years closeted with my status in the professional cycling field I finally came out of the closet and let everyone know I was HIV+ in 1996 (family and all). I started riding the Tanquerey American AIDS Rides in 1994 and this year the original beneficiarerys decided to produce there own ride. I am doing the new ride from San Fransisco to L.A. called AIDS/LifeCycle. By the 2 bennificiarrys ( L.A.Gay&Lesbian Center & S.F.AidsFoundation) producing there own event they have saved $1.5million in production fees that would be payed to a company that would produce the event for them. This money saved is going to needed services and all procieds go to services. They feel they can return over 85% directly to services ( this is much beter than the 47% return for the last 2 years ) and hopefully raise more money in the future for needed aids services. This leads to why I posted, I am riding in this new event and raising money for these services. I have 3 more weeks of fund raising left and are way below my goal. I would like to ask if any of the people on this list can, or know of any one that can donate to the ride. I will attach a auto filling donation form you can just click on and fill out. For those that want to know if it is tax deductable, It is!! any thing over $250 you will get a reciept from the LAGLC, any thing under you will have to keep the reciept from your credit card, or the canceled check for tax purpouses. Here is my donation form, you can cut and paste it if you know someone else who will help out. https://www.aidslifecycle.org/sponsor/laglc.cfm?f=Bill&l=Grafeman&n=1003 and the websight for the event is at, http://www.aidslifecycle.org
I thank each and every one who read this far. And thank you in advance for your donation if you choose to.
Gman Bill
P.S. You can e mail me if you have any questions.

Dear Gman,
I congratulate you on your effort to help HIV research.
I am from Australia and I am quite happy to support you with US$ 250. Now I have some small problems. First of all the form has been designed for US residents. I think I can get away with stating some US details, and happy to try.
I also don't need any receipt since I can't claim the tax in Australia sending money to US.
And the third, I obviously use here my nick name and I am quite happy to send you the money - after you promissed not to use my real name here or send me an e-mails as lot of people in my office can have some access to my e-mail, and when you receive the money you can let me know on the board under "Richard" headings.
JACKIE,
can you please confirm to me that this is a good thing to support.
And by the way I am not hiding the name of myself due to any special reason - apart from that I don't want my friends saying to me why am I supporting US charity - I should be supporting Australian - which I will do of course, but this storry had a nice feeling to me and I would like to support the the idea around the world not just in AU. Little by little.
I also plan to do some larger scale charity work in Australia.
Please write here if you think I will have the problem with credit card form - I will be quite happy to wire money direct to nominated account.
Best of luck and I hope number of people here do support you as they should know very well what would that mean if they have been turned positive after numerous uneseccary test and waist of money.
I did it the same - but now I want to give that money back to needed one.
Good luck to your effort and it is terrific that you are doing it.
Richard

Richard,
I can understand having second thoughts about something like this asking for money that is posted on the board. BUT Gmanbill has been on this board for quite sometime. I would trust what he is doing. I don't know about your country, but here it is not uncommon to raise money by biking, walking or marathons. As far as the credit card thing works. I don't know. I'll have to figure it out as I go along. I'm sure it will probably be self explanatory.
I suggest you log in here and then you can private message GmanBill with any questions you have. I'm sure he will be more than happy to answer them.
To Gman: What you are doing is great. I wish you success in getting your donations up. I will be sending a donation also. Good Luck! J.

Dear Jackie,
Thanks for your advise. Of course we have all those things here in Australia (raising money). The reason I have asked you to confirm this is more how genuine it is - which you have done for me.
Searching the net about my HIV status, and learning about it I came across number of sites who claimed they can cure HIV, by buying some medications from them.
Unfortunately even in those curcamstences we have people trying to get (read - steal) the money from people that are looking for some hope.
You have answer my question and I am waiting to hear from Gman to send him that money I peomissed here and I hope some other people follow that - even if they send $ 10 - sometimes it is nice to see support as much as some dollars.
Thanks for this.
