Would the window period be longer for someone with a non-b subtype. Ive read that current Elisas have trouble picking up some early window period infections with non-b subtype. Does the 3-6 month window apply to someone who is infected with a non-B clade?? Thanks

I am not sure about US, and I don't think it would really make any difference - but in Australia - Elisa 3rd generation is tuned to pick all subtypes of HIV infection. Therefore the window period for Elisa will be the same regardless of subtypes.
On Hopkins site they are talking about subtypes and where majority of subtypes are found etc. Not sure about the link but search the news and you will get pretty good picture about different strains of HIV.
If you do find it - please post the link back.
Have in mind also that Home Access is Elisa 1, since we don't have it in Australia I am not sure about the assay they use, but certain it can't pick up HIV 2m and it appears that the window period is bit extended. But please find out from them.
