FREAKING OUT AGAIN! Please, people, does anybody know how to tell normal white tongue from candidiasis?????
Also, does anybody know the symptoms of GULLET (OESOPHAGUS) CANDIDIASIS? Is it simply a "lump" in the throat kind of feeling? I have a feeling of something stuck in my throat... Please help. Would mouth candidiasis be present if somebody has OESOPHAGUS candidiasis?????
PLEASE PLEASE TELL ME!

Guys, honestly, please DO answer this - I beg you. Does anybody know about oesophagal candidiasis? What are the symptoms? I have a "lump" deep in the throat, as if something is stuck in there, and it becomes particularly apparent when I swallow (e.g. saliva). This thing is an AIDS-defining illness, so I really, really need to know!

I had the same thing, lump in throat, plus difficulty in swallowing, pain in chest, weight loss. All these CAN be symptoms of oesophageal candidiasis, so obviously I assumed they WERE symptoms and I DID have it. Plus I had a constant flow of fluid down from the back of my nose down my throat and I could even "taste" yeast in my mouth from time to time!
Well I didn't have it, despite the symptoms and it's probably the same for you too. Basically because there's far more likely explanations for these symptoms. The lump in throat/difficulty swallowing was described as globus hystericus, which is apparently a common symptom when experiencing severe anxiety (such as when you're worried you may have a potentially life threatening illness!). The pain in the chest was probably due to extreme muscular/skeletal tension. The fluid thing was probably some sort of sinus drainage. The weight loss was probably due to all the worry.
This all seems obvious now, and I bet it's a far more likely explanation for your problems too, rather than candidiasis but I can remember how difficult it is when you're the one going through it.
Have you had a test?

Can this "lump" on its own (no systemic symptoms) indicate oesophagitis?

Not from what I've read, no.
