ars symptom?
      #28699 - 02/24/02 05:08 AM

I fear that I have HIV. I don't know yet, as I haven't gone for a test. But my greatest fear is that I will unwittingly infect the people around me, those that I live with.
There are so many times in which I may have left blood accidently around the house, or some other infectious fluid without my knowlegde. I am so scared that one of my family came into contact with those infectious fluid and got themselves infected as well. Like after I leave a seat, what if I accidently left traces of blood or some other fluid there which cannot be seen easily and someone comes along and touches this fluid and then for some reason handles food with the hands, causing them to be exposed to the fluid on the food?
I know many of the scenarios that come up in my head deserve to just stay there, but not when situations arise to make it seem that there is a cause to be concerned.
There was a time where I had actually cut myselg on paper and may have bled. I don't know, as I discovered the paper cut only hours after it had occured. In between the cut and discovering it, I had touched many things around the house with the cut finger. I may have left blood on things I am not even aware of it. I saw my dad and sister opening the refrigerator door and then took something out of the fridge and eat it. In retrospect, I freaked, as I had handled the fridge too with my cut and all. They had opened the fridge just a mere second or two after I had touched the fridge.
When this hit me like I train, I checked the paper cut again. It wasn't bleeding red, but there seem to be some transparent fluid which was glistening in my wound. Is this plasma? Isn't this infectious then?
2 weeks later, my dad came down with the flu. 2weeks after my dad's symptoms, my sister came down with symptoms just like appendicitis, severe stomach pains, fevers, tiredness, vomiting, some diarhhea.
How can I not be HIV positive? I myself didn't seem to have any sypmtoms that spell ARS, but after a potential exposure to my blood, my loved ones did have something that seem like ARS. I am so scared that I have infected them. At this point, I longer am so concerned about myself, whether I am positive or not, I just don't want ot drag others down as well. I am so tortured inside, everytime I see my sister in pain or think about my dad's flu like symptoms which has by now subsided. What shall we do?

HIV is not transmitted through casual contact. It can only transmitted by sex, blood to blood, or mother to child. Any blood you leave around the house would not have viable virus in it. BTW, just from a santitary aspect. Clean up after yourself. No one wants to see dried blood all over the house.
