If you have any thoughts please advise. I tested negative on the HIV six months past exposure. I had numerous symptoms that led me to believe I would be + for sure. Now one year later I am having night sweats, 3 weeks now, that are soaking my shirt. I am wondering could there be any connection? Any thoughts would be helpful.
Thanks,

You say you had many symptoms before you tested negative. What were they and did they go away when you tested negative. How bad are the night sweats your having right now and are there any other symptoms with them. Also are you on any new medications.

Night sweats that are comprable to HIV occur later in infection---typically after the diagnosis of AIDS qualifications has been met. When this occurs it doesn't wet your shirt, or your neck or maybe cause a little dampness...it SOAKS the entire bed. Your body perspires so extensively you must remove the sheets and dry the bed. Now, you have tested BEYOND the window period and are not HIV+ so STOP being concerned.

I too have been having these sweats. It has been happening every few nights and I wake with my head and upper shoulders sweaty. I have been to an Infectous Disease Spec and my GP and have had a chest XRay ( negative). Both doctors said the type of sweats with HIV are drenching all body sweats that soak the sheets and bed..My physical exam was normal otherwise. I am so nervous about my sweats I have been sleeping on the couch. I also had the flu last week and it is most likely part of that. Night sweats with swollen glands ( lymph nodes) weight loss, loss of appetite, chronic high fever, etc. is more indicative of a problem.
Mt stress level is so bad I am not sure hw much longer I can take myself and my mental illness.
But, that being said I am SURE I am dying of something.

The symptoms were: about a week after the encounter, had a weird flush come over my face, with a rash on my neck. Was very tired and needed to sleep most of the day for weeks.(I was very stressed and depressed however.) Also had dry mouth, coated tongue, and was very spaced out. During this time I was on prozac and klonopin to sleep. This may have contributed to my dizzy state. Had some strange fungus type activity on my nails. Did have night sweats early on for several days as well. I did have negative tests at 6mo. Also had an RNA PCR at 28 days and <400 copies which was normal range. Now these "sweats", my shirt is very damp, but not the sheets.
Thanks,

The bottom line:
1. If God forbid you have it, you have it. That won't change! 2. Whether you have it or not, you should not be engaging in activities that put you or others at risk! 3. If you have it and for some unimaginable reason get a false negative after 3 months waiting, then it will show up some time and you can deal with it then. 4. No matter how nutso you think you are over this, someone is even more nutso than you. I thought I was the most freaked out until I read some of these postings! 5. If you got HIV from kissing, bug bites, toilet seats, someone elses fork, someone bumping in to you or any one of the other million ways other than those recognized by the CDC that people on this forum are certain from which they contracted the disease, relax. You will be the only one one on record to have done so and will be wisked away for the scientific miracle tour. If you didn't engage in the things that can transmit HIV, you don't have it! Get over it!
