Floaters - Why Do They Occur?
      #28232 - 02/13/02 07:15 AM

I was really scared when I noticed floaters. On second thought, I would agree that they are hardly indicative of HIV infection. First of all, I asked many people whether they see floaters. The majority of them do! Also, before my exposure, I remember seeing floaters too. Regarding the fact that they have become more troublesome. The brain learns to oversee floaters. It adapts very quickly and learns to ignore them. However, when somebody is on a quest for symptoms (like myself) this acquired ability of the brain is lost and you consciously focus on the floaters making them noticable. CMV occurs in late stages of AIDS. There's no way it can come up straight after seroconversion. This is the virus that causes floaters in HIV+ people. So I am telling (myself) to relax. :-)
