Secondary Infections due to HIV after ARS?
      #276394 - 05/31/14 01:33 PM

I have developed a terrible respiratory illness, constant coughing, phlegm, runny nose, but no fever. Could this be an opportunistic infection caused by resent HIV infection reducing my immune system?

This doesn't feel like allergies, more like a cold. Seems to be bit much for a coincidence, I get infected with HIV (90+% sure), and now I am sick with other illnesses. I am worried it means my CD4 are very low now.

I decided to get tested again today using the Oraquick test. This would be 4 weeks past my first exposure and 3 weeks past my second exposure. It is also is over 1 week after the end of my ARS symptoms, and over 2 weeks after the start.

The results are still negative. I would have thought antibodies would have been produced by now given my symptoms are basically over. I will test again this Friday at a clinic.

I am now wondering if my recent uncontrollable coughing and runny nose are actually part of my ARS. I still have my HIV like arm rash, and the coughing started shortly after the fever and swollen lymph nodes ended. I may be experiencing a long slow seroconversion.
