Possible exposure to asymptomatic HIV + serum
      #275173 - 01/31/14 08:31 PM

I work in a lab and unfortunately dropped a vial of serum. The vial fell on the floor and it kind of splashed. The majority splashed onto my scrub pants and didn't soak thru, I panicked and was convinced it splashed my face but I'm certain it didn't now...am I at any risk considering the blood was spun down to serum and exposed to the air? I did not have any cuts or broken skin anywhere the serum splashed...really nervous

"Possible exposure to asymptomatic HIV + serum"

Asymptomatic? That describes a phase in the disease. Not anything that would have to do with blood or serum. Can't even figure out it's a viral load you need to worry about.

LOL You guys just slay me.

May I suggest that if your in a profession that involves dealing with blood , then perhaps it should be mandatory to be educated about the risks and how esay or difficult to be infected. The only problem even with institutions giving so called education alot of times it is giving misleading info. How sad that the overall medical field doesn't even understand about Hiv.
