Painful Lymph Nodes After 3 Months ( Very High Risk Exposure )
      #275026 - 01/25/14 01:17 PM

I am a gay man I had several unprotected sexual activities during the first ten days of october with two different guys ( unknown hiv status ) in two cases I was top ( unprotected ) and in one case I was bottom ( unprotected internal ejaculation ). I also had unprotected sex the 16th of October I was top. Few weeks later I found out that my last partner was HIV+
TEST HIV Ab ELISA 3rd gen. 14 days after my last exposure --> Negative
TEST HIV COMBO Ab/Ag P24 at 37 days --> Negative
TEST HIV COMBO Ab/Ag P24 at 60 days --> Negative
TEST HIV Ab ELISA 3rd gen. at 67 days --> Negative
STDs TEST --> Hep A , B , C , VDRL all Negative CMW immunized and EBV was indeterminate status ( possible early infection before IgM response or past infection in a non EBNA IgG responder )
TEST HIV COMBO Ab/Ag P24 at 86 days --> Negative
During the last two months I had lot of symptoms , nausea , little gorgles to my stomach , itch , weakness , myalgia and painful lynph nodes all over my body.
I am really scared becouse I still have painfull lynph nodes ( 100 days afeter last exposure ) and I feal weak and depressed.
Do you think 3 months are not enough to develop antibodies in my specific case ? Do I have to wait 6 months or more to be completely sure ?
Why my body in not capable to produce antibodies despite the fact my lynpho nodes are working hard for about two months ?
Thank you very much for your answers.

Congratulations on being HIV negative.

Most people that become infected with HIV will test positive by 6 weeks. If you are still testing negative at 3 months, then you are HIV negative. 3 months is considered conclusive and there is no need for further testing.

It is not unheard of for someone to be exposed to HIV and not become infected. The CDC places your risk as 6.5 in 10,000 having unprotected insertive anal sex with an infected source and 50 in 10,000 being the receptive partner during unprotected sex to an infected source.

Of course, unprotected sex is a risk and you never know when your number may come up so it is important to take responsibility for your own health by using and insisting on condom use.

You came out of it OK this time. You might not be so lucky next time if you continue to put yourself at risk.

Correct me if I am wrong. You tested 14 days after your last exposure? Have you since tested again?
May I ask why would you rather put yourself at risk and just test time and time again? Do you realize that your playing Russian Roulette? I am going to be quite frank with you . I don't care if your top , bottom , or sideways , your playing a game that doesn't believe in re-dos. SERIOUSLY !Guess your not scared enough.

Thank you for your answer riverprincess , and YES you are right I was very irresponsible and stupid and it will never happen again ... I took 5 blood tests in 86 days and today I've been tested again 100 days from my last exposure. I am praying every day ... Do you think I am not seroconverted yet ? Do you think I have to wait 6 months to be 100 % sure of my HIV status ? Thank you very much.

David, I'm just curious if you've tested again or if your doctor has diagnosed anything? I'm having the same exact symptoms started 2 weeks after exposure now going on over 7 months. I had all the test done HIV DNA PNR at 4 weeks then HIV antibody at 3 month and 6 months. All negative. It's just strange that your describing the same exact symptoms that I'm having. I've been to various specialist all with no answers and negative test results on everything they run. I hope they find an answer for you soon and if they do please post or message me so I can try and figure out my deal. I'll do the same if I find anything.
