Aids vs Hiv exposure?.. Any difference?
      #274843 - 01/19/14 06:10 PM

Are there any risk diferences between being exposed to someone who is HIV+ and someone who has AIDS completely? Would symptoms show earlier? Do you skip the HIV stage completely? etc... Anybody have some knowledge?

Nope. What causes a person to be designated as having AIDS is either a CD4 count below 200 or having an AIDS defining illness. But it's viral load that can increase transmission of HIV. So you can have a person with a undetectable viral load and a CD4 below 200 and they won't be as infectious as someone that has just seroconverted with a viral load in the 1000's but yet they have a high CD4 and no AIDS defining illnesses.

Is it possible to see symptoms within 24hrs? If someone might have an rarely high Viral Load?... IF someone has a huge viral load does that make oral sex a HIGH risk?

No you will not see anything within 24 hours. ARS typically presents between 2-4 weeks.
