You were protected except for what sounds like a short period of time. At 6 weeks just about everybody that has become infected will test positive. It is almost unheard of for a 6 week negative to turn into a positive result at the final 3 month mark.

Have a test done at 3 months. That result is considered conclusive. No further testing will be needed after that.
