Hi,
I just read a post by Dr Bob that said that local anesthetic kills hiv and therefore if hiv tainted blood does come into contact with local anesthetic even in a syringe it would deactivate it.
I've been trying to find more information on this but failing. Does anybody here know if that is true?
Thanks

Really stretching here. Why would the syringe come into contact with an anesthetic during a blood draw. Anesthetics aren't used in that way.
You are either going to have to come to terms with your fear or live in terror for 3 months and retest, hopefully without thinking they used an old syringe again.

Hello again, No I know that I'm actually feeling much better about the blood draw and know it was ok.
I am asking this as I have the dentist soon and know I need a filling which will of course mean an injection which on turn will of course trigger my irrational anxiety again.
If as Dr Bob says that anesthetic deactivated HIV then I can go into the dentist without fear.
I know to some how ridiculous fears like this seem but to me it's something i need to understand to be able to approach situations without fear.

What exactly is going to the dentist making you fearful. All offices use universal protection, gloves masks and some even face shields. If anyone is at risk it's the dental auxillary not you. And like I said with the universal precautions that illiminatese any risk.
