Hi all, I had a possible HIV exposure in late July...i am a 21 year old female. I had unprotected sex with the friend of a friend. he did not ejaculate inside me. i have no reason to think he is HIV+, but he is the first person i have ever been with who i did not know very well. this sort of behavior is highly unlike me and i freaked out immediately after the experience and have been worrying ever since, finding symptoms in everything. i had strep about a month prior to this occurrence, and developed it again about a month after. i did drink heavily while on the first round of antibiotics (had a string of going away parties i had to go to...stupid, i know) so its possible the infection wasn't treated and came back because of that, but i convinced myself it was because my immune system was compromised from acute HIV. i have not had a fever which i hear is one of the most common signs of acute infection and no nausea, vomiting, or weight loss, but i have been fatigued (i have always been a tired person but this seems more extreme than usual) and have developed what appears to be worsening folliculitis on my thighs (i've always had a mild case). now, nearly 3 months after exposure and close to when i was planning to get tested, i have developed more concerning symptoms. i have been under a lot of stress because i was studying for two major entrance exams (LSAT & GRE). one night i wore heels out and bruised my toe so the skin underneath my toenail has been bruised and bloody for over a month now. the skin on my face and ears has been extremely dry, itchy, and flaky. at night when i try to fall asleep i get a choking sensation if i turn my neck too quickly, but i have excess mucus in my mouth at all times. i also have a white tongue but i believe i always have to some extent. also, saturday night i discovered a cluster of bumps near my vaginal opening and was diagnosed with HPV. i have read that genital warts and hpv are more likely to appear if one's immune system is compromised due to having hiv. i'm wondering if it would happen this quickly after exposure.
i am going to get tested very soon i am just wondering if anyone has any details on the relationship between HPV & HIV and the likelihood that i did in fact contract hiv so i can put my mind to rest in the meantime.

Having an STD does not necessarily mean that you have Hiv. All that you are experiencing is most likely due to all the stress your under and the fact that you did not take your anti-biotic meds properly . You sorta know the answer to your questions but want some afirmation . I wouldn't judge by your symptoms. But as for the sex part , when in doubt go ahead and get tested. Perhaps it will eliminate some of your stress. And please just be more careful. We can never turn a clock back so learn from present mistakes. Oh and lots of luck on your exams. ( no wonder your stressed to begin with )
