This falls into the hypothetical category. Again, HIV is an extremely fragile virus which quickly becomes unable to infect within minutes of being exposed to an outside environment.
The thing to remember about HIV is that the ways it has been proven to be transmitted all involve transmission within the body without it being exposed to air. In the case of needle exposures they normally happen right after being used and hollow bore needles protect the virus from air.
It the virus has been exposed to an environment outside the body it's harmless.
