Hello everybody. I am still learning about ARS and HIV symptoms. So please bear with me. When does oral hairy leukoplakia or candidiasis start to come in when a person has been exposed and infected to HIV? Does it occur during acute infection? Or does it occur during HIV latency?
Last week, I felt fatigued, I felt a mild fever for a couple days...I just overall felt like crap. I have not experienced diarrhea or anything. It all started early last week. Now, my body overall feels better, however, I noticed my tongue has turned white, as well as the sides of my mouth, way back in my throat, and the roof of my mouth. My tonsil area also appears to be developing sores and there appear to be little red lines. I have a mucus like taste coming from the back of my throat and there is a slight burning sensation.
This all seems weird to me because from what I understand, symptoms are supposed to take two to four weeks for to kick in. My possible HIV exposure was just last week (5/26/2012) Anybody have any ideas?

I should asked in the post but it slipped my mind. Does the oral symptoms happen in the transition period of negative to positive? I think it's called seroconversion? If so, is it time to get tested?
Also, does it usually come with dry mouth? I noticed throughout the week my mouth was dry, but now, starting this morning when the inflammation came in and I noticed my white hairy tongue, I have gotten my saliva back.
Again, apologies if my questions should be basic knowledge. I am still learning!

First of all, don't freak out.
You had your first symptoms just right after sex. Any virus, including VIH or a minor one like influeza (flu) take days to weeks to incubate. So, for what you're telling us, you probably got a flu days before the relation and now is showing up. Also, you used protection, so, there's no way you got HIV.
About your white tongue, that's not even a common symptom of acute infection of VIH. It might happens to people in later stages of the illness. But I do recommend to go to the doctor and have it checked. Maybe have something to do with the thyroids issue.
Don't think anymore about HIV, that's not your issue. And remain calm, odds are that is just stress combined with some minor virus like the flu.

Thanks Sherezade, I really appreciate you taking the time to answer my questions. You are the 50th person to tell me that my issues are not HIV related. I should probably start yielding to to what everybody is tell me now huh? hehe.

I think you should
But I know how the process goes, because I have been in your shoes very recently. Probably you will want to take the test anyway. If it helps to ease your mind, take it, but you can be sure the result will be negative based on the case you have described.
