OraSure worries

I just read that the OraSure swab must be kept in contact with the gums for at least 2 minutes. When I took my tests (1 month neg, 3 month neg) the counsellor didn't use any kind of clock or watch to time how long it was in there. Then, to make matters worse, before she took it out, she said to swab it around a little and get saliva on it. Now I read that the saliva actually dilutes the sample, because it is not saliva that the swab picks up! It picks up some other fluid from the gums that is more like plasma. Oh lord, now I know I'll be the one who comes out positive on my 6 month test! I will bring my own stopwatch, and also not allow too much saliva on the swab. God help me!

That counselor probably has way more experience administring the test, than you do at taking it. Try to relax...
