Greetings
i am new to this forum and i need to say i found alot of information really usefull, so i want to thank everybody in advance.
so here is my story, 3 weeks ago i had a quite foolish accident, after a long period of missfortunes in my life which included deaths of beloved ones, mistakes in various fields and so on, i was slowly finding my good old self, one day after being rather drunk and due to the physical urges all men have, i picked up an illegal african prostitute in order to have her perform oral sex on me, and in the end i also had vaginal sex with her.
the problem is that the condoms broke (i used two of them at the same time), and while intoxicated i realised later on, i would assume that being unprotected penis vaginal sex with a duration of 1 to 3 mins , at that point i wiped out my penis with my shirt and continued with oral sex protected one.
after this, i realised that i could have been exposed to all sorts of STDS including HIV, i rushed home where i washed multiple times and very good my genitalia with betadin and soap (i also took a normal shower just in case), and i sat down on my computer to see what exactly i can do.
i found a site which mentioned that in case of a potential harmfull accident i could have post exposure prophylaxis, so aproximently 1.5-2.5 hours after the incident i rushed to the hospital.
in the hospital i explained to the doctor what the case was, and she gave me two kalestra as well as a combivir that i took on site, and provided me with 2 more kalestra and one combivir for the next day since it was sunday and hospitals do not work.
in monday morning i visited the hospital where i explained the situation to the doctor and she gave me pep concisting of Kalestra (2 pills twice a day) and truvada (1 pill per day), she also asked me to take blood examinations and she additionaly said i should be tested for syphilis because it is on a rise.
kalestra and truvada were "rough" pills and caused to me diarhea, as well as a general fatigue.
since i had done an hiv test three months ago (6 months after my previous sexual contact), i did not haste to take the exams and i did so aproximently 10 days after the possible exposure, and got the results today.
the test turned out negative for hiv as i expected and would be so anyway due to the "breeding time" of the virus, but possitive for the syphilis.
where i got the results they told me that they will re-examine my blood for some other type of exam and i shall have the replies this friday.
i did not manage to contact the doctor today and i shall do straight tommorow in the morning.
here i need to mention the following, my psychologist told me that i have a tendency to depression (i was rather depressed during the last year due to many deaths of beloved ones) and that at this momment i suffer from anxiaty-stress, i do not have any mental disorders but i do have some phobias and obsessions, generaly despite being able to actualy logicaly assess a situation and weight things i just have the fear and that it does create to me anxiaty, allthought i would call myself by no means paranoid, for that and due to the weight of circumstances he gave me a small dose of zanax that i still take.
i also have skin problems such as serious acne on my shoulders and back which i neglected treating due to my depression,
and hair growing inside (i don't know the term), actualy i am quite hairy and in areas such as my chest and upper hands shoulders it is quite usual for this to happen.
due to the above my shoulders and chest look abit like a "bombarded" scenery, meaning that there are (and were even before all these) some ulcers as well as red spots due to the damaged tissues.
generaly all this period i did not have any continueing symptoms apart from fatigue and diarheas, a few times a feeling in my stomach similar to that of nausea when i hadn't ate before taking the pills, and a burning sensation on the above lower part of my hands which the aphrodisiologist said it is probably a physicalisation (don't know the word) of my anxiaty, due to anxiaty i also had a strange feeling in my ears as if someone was pulling them upwards which stopped when i began taking zanax.
i also had some red spots which i asked if they could be due to acute hiv infection, but she told me that it was a of a different type and not the one hiv creates and plus they were scarse in various parts and not generalised.
my lymph nodes which she also checked where fine, and i have not noticed any change at all.
so now i have some questions, which i would be really happy if you could reply.
1) first of all, do you think i acted correctly? i mean should i have asked for more medical advise apart from what i did?
2) does it really matters that for the first 30 hours i got 1 different drug and a smaller quantity of the other one?
3) what are the chances of actualy being infected now that i have followed pep for 22 days? (i am still on pep) is there a chance that pep could just delay seroconversion?
4) does syphilis has an effect on pep for hiv infection, i know that one is an microbe while the other a virus, but could being infected by both at the same time have a negative effect on pep preventiveness?
5) do other STDs could have an effect on peps effectiveness?
6) could my syphilis be from this encounter? would 10 days be enought to be detectable in a blood exam or it could be from a previous time (last time i had sex before that was aprox 9 months ago) but on a latent stage?
7) how does an hiv rash looks like? i have tried to search on the internet but seriously there are rashes that look really different and rashes that are probably not from acute hiv infection.
8) is there a chance that symptoms of acute infection such as a rash can develop while on pep?
9) does a significant delay in taking kalestra at the 22th day of pep (8 hours delay once due to falling asleep :S) increases alot the risk of being infected?
10) syphilis is totaly curable right?
anyway i guess i wrote way too much, i thank you for even bothering reading this, and i thank you twice if you decide to reply

I would agree that you are a very anxious person as you stated. I could sense your anxiety right through the keyboard my friend. to try to answer all your questions , with all that you did I don't think anything had or has a chance to remotley survive.I'm not making fun of you , I understand your fear . Did you have to jump on all the things that you did?, well its all done now so it really doesn't matter. Now to put any remaining fears away , if it makes you feel more secure , just go get everything looked at in about a month. Any std's ( I seriously doubt ) would of showed up by then. Any HIV will show up . And as for Hepc , that I would get rountinely tested every year . That can lay dormant for some time. Nothing to do now , but just get tested every year. Now relax be wll and please be careful and take care of yourself.
