So i have proctitis (pretty common gastrointestion issuethat could be idiopathic, caused by std's, stress, bacteria ect..) durring a check up my dr decided to check for anything and everything that could be causing it. My blood test came back with a positive elisa and intermediate western blot. My husband and i have been 100% exclusive for the past 3 years and 2 years ago when i got breast implants i tested negative for hiv in the pre op blood work. 4 years ago before i met my husband he tested negative for hiv when he had pre op blood work. We do not use drugs and have not had any blood transfusions. I am taking another blood test specific to hiv(i forget what its called). What do you think? Should we be worried? If not hiv then what could be causing this intermediate result? Could herpes cause the intermediate result? Please give it to me straight im really stressed out:(

Maybe my first test before the breast enhancment was a false negative? What are the odds of that and what are the odds of an intermediate ending up negative? My doctor said hes never had an intermediate result before which makes me beleive that if i was negative my test would just show negative...

I think the only thing you can do is to wait for the result of the third test. I know waiting is pretty hard, but at this point, it's the only thing that can be done. I hope it works out ok.

If the final test does come back positive, I think you need to have a long talk with your husband about the "exclusive" thing. Dont go blaming yourself and thinking your test years ago was "false positive". That's nonsense thinking. If you have HIV and you have been loyal to him, then tell him he needs to get tested.
If his test is positive then you know he has not been loyal or exclusive.
