Extremely worried about possible HIV infection
      #260113 - 01/14/12 03:32 AM

Hey all,
I have been possibly exposed to HIV last month and I have been developing weird symptoms. I had unprotected vaginal sex but he did not ejaculate inside me. Of course I am aware that the chances of infection has gone down but there are still some chances due to pre-come and the fact that he was quite rough. Some of these symptoms are diarrhea, headache, dizziness, swollen lymph nodes, joint soreness, uterus inflammation, heart problems and ataxia (loss of coordination). I have been able to find "explanations" for all the symptoms except for the ataxia. I have had a flu before the exposure and this progressed until two weeks ago. Now I am trying to figure out if I'm only causing these symptoms because of anxiety or if the flu virus could also possibly cause ataxia. I haven't had the chance to get tested yet because I am under my parents insurance and they are constantly controlling my movements. It has only been 4-5 weeks since the exposure and the ataxia started about a week ago. I really would like to know what are the chances of me getting infected at this point and if the ataxia is something that was triggered by primary HIV syndrome. Thank you all very much.

I had to look up to see what ataxia was . And there is no way that could be triggered by HIV . Perhaps its just your nerves that is triggering what you feel. As far as being tested, you don't need your parents insurance for it. Go to your local health department and find out about their free testing .And then I suggest that you be more careful with your sexuality . I would be more concern about getting pregnate. That is a bit more difficult to hide from your parents. Be smart girl. PM me if you want . Seriously, BE CAREFUL !!!

like so many others before you, your chances of infection as described above, are about as good as mine are of being cured of aids by drinking coffee...

again, not on a theoretic scale, but on a Reality scale, if hiv transmission was a viable risk in the above described scenario, the whole planet would be infected. I do suggest ya get tested, however....not because of what you described, but because everyone should get tested who is sexually active for the simple fact that its a healthy, responsible and admirable practice to make routine for your health as well as others...

who is to say that precum was even involved? were you in there watching??? see my point yet? HIV infection takes place deep within the body, where certain variables are present, such as moisture levels, even/equal temperature exchange, and many more....it only takes one variable to be off to render the virus broken and non transmitable.

Having said this, dont waste your time worrying, just get tested. But dont stop at HIV testing, get a full std panel done also, as there are many other std's that you certainly could get in the manner you described. Use this as a learning experience & a motivator to educate yourself on safe sex practices, so you wont have to worry about these things as much. Individually, reality is we are all responsible for our own choices concerning our own personal health... also, there are plenty of clinics, health depts etc that allow FREE testing, so dont let insurance be a detourant to getting tested... Good luck, prepare yourself to accept a negative test result though...

Symptoms does not mean having HIV.

I had 19 symptoms

I seronegative
My boyfriend (the risk) is seronegative.

The mean of the population has a positive at 25 days

I have the strong
you do not have HIV

a fourth-generation ELISA at 45 days the risk is conclusive

by security retestea three months,
If you have no new risk does not change the result
