my husband was diganosed and his cd4 count was 85, cannot remember the viral load. 3 years ago before we got married he said he was tested and it was negative, i did not actually see test results...& i know that was where i went wrong. he did admit that during the 1st year of dating he was seeing other people but claims he was using a condom. my question, is it possible that he contracted hiv 2 -3 years ago & it has advanced to that stage already or is it more likely that he already had hiv? from reading on this site it takes many years for hiv to weaken the immune system and progress to aids causing other infections. i'm just trying to deal with the situation & take this all in wondering if he has been living with hiv all this time, because his symptoms are classified as late stage hiv/aids.
btw...i have tested negative twice, scheduled to test again next week which is 6mths since my last exposure. i think this test has gotten me nervous yet again & im quesioning alot.

It's possible...but not very probable. Odds are he has had it for a while, but I think you already know that. The real question you should be asking is "Does it matter how and when?" If the answer is yes it matters then may I suggest couples counseling..actually I suggest counseling either way for both of you, whether you stick around or not.
I wouldn't be to concerned with your upcoming test results, you have already past the three month mark and had a negative I am willing to bet as long as you haven't had any exposure since your first test that everything will be fine.
