Hi , I took an HIV test after 40 days of exposure I tested negative which I believe is 3rd generation ELISA from Quest Diagnostics. Now I did have protected sex vaginal and anal but when I was having vaginal sex I became soft and had some precum in the condom which at the time I felt like it slipped when I pulled out the condom came off. That is my main concern, 2 weeks after this incident I have been feeling very fatigue, I develop a rash on my face and had chills no fever. Its been now 9 weeks since exposure and tested negative at 40 days after the exposure, what are my chances of testing positive at 12 weeks. My concern now is that I have generalized join pain and Im only 29yrs old, also when I did my blood work the doctor told me I had low testosterone 241ml which can explain the fatigue and the joint pain but Im still worried since I have contacted my partner and she refuses to get tested and is very reluctant to do so which scares me a lot. Thank you for your response

Your results are very encouraging and you will no doubt come out negative at the 3 month mark. if the condom was still on you penis when you pulled out, then there was zero risk. even if not, the odds of infecting through that once single contact is really really high.
Not sure why our partner refused but base don the anxiety and fear you are going through, it's probably the same reason holding them back from even entertaining the thought of a test.
Stay positive, focus less on this and more on things that make you happy and get tested at 3 month (90 day mark), jump up in joy that you are negative and enjoy life (and play it safe).

Thank you for your post Redterp I feel a bit better I have been reading that 6 weeks test negative are extremely rare to turn positive, but I always think I might be that unlucky rare case, still waiting 2 more weeks to take the 90 day exam! And my join pain has gotten worst! My wrist, shoulders, ankles, I was told might be my low testosterone or also a result from a HGH 2 month cycle I did. For now will do the waiting game and I hope I'm negative!

Hi, I'm concerned to know how the results after 3 months turned out to be? because i have the exact joint pain also and most of the things you said applies to me, but for me that happened only 1 month ago, i will get tested anyway in couple of days and then after 6 weeks again, and finally after 3 months, thank you
