How long does HIV survive outside the body?

Hi,
I just wanted to know how long HIV survives outside body and how long it would live on lets say a razor?? I get confused about what the CDC says..some say hours some say minutes...would it be more than a day?

I could be wrong but from what I read there has been only one documented case of this happening from a razor back when little was known about the virus. The report of it states that the doctor reporting it was skeptic about it and did not fully believe it was the whole story but for lack of any other evidence decided to report it as a possible mode of transmission. I think the current number of people infected with hiv to date is roughly 60 million worldwide and only one case of infection by razor. I would say the odds are in your favor.
